Challenger - Westway Sports Centre
19/04/2006The first TigerTurf Challenger artificial grass pitch was unveiled at the Westway Sports Centre in London's North Kensington on October 19th 2004. This dual purpose Hockey and Football pitch has now been in use regularly for more than 18 months and is proving to be a real winner with both players and coaches.Â
Westway's Football Development Coach, Kevin Green is a genuine convert, ‽The surface is the most grass-like I have ever worked on. It has certainly helped the development of our better players, leading to many joining professional academiesâ€.Â
The centre's Football Development Manager, Martin Tully is also enthusiastic - "The pitch has helped all the Westway squad teams have successful seasons in competitive leagues. It ensures that when they play their league matches on grass the players are ready for action. All our regular pitch users have been very complimentary about the TigerTurf pitch and tell me it is the best one they have played on in the London area."
TigerTurf Challenger is a mid pile texturised polyethylene monofilament carpet which is filled with regular recycled rubber and dressed with sand. This provides the ideal combination of moisture retention and bounce control characteristics required for both Hockey and Football. Furthermore, it meets FIH, FA and FIFA 1 Star test requirements, putting it well ahead of the performance levels of sand filled multi-use surfaces favoured by schools and clubs in the past.
TigerTurf manufacture a wide range of innovative synthetic grass surfaces for sports, play and leisure applications.
