Evolution - Bradfield College
31/03/2008The hugely anticipated new Evolution hockey pitch was officially opened at Bradfield College earlier this month. The pioneering TigerTurf surface, formally known as WETT dressed was opening by Richard Dodds, winner of the Olympic Gold medal for hockey in 1988.
Using similar technology to the professional WETT series (Water Efficient TigerTurf), the Evolution surface has been developed as a suitable funding option for schools, colleges and community sports clubs. The tightly curled fibres create a surface on which players can practice close control over the ball and have complete command over the speed and direction of passes, without the need to water the field. The extra strength in the fibres ensures maximum surface recovery every time and the surface is offered with a 10-year guarantee.
Involved in the innovation of the new technology was England hockey star Jennie Bimson. Jennie joined TigerTurf last year as a consultant to assist in the development of products that meet the needs of the sport and its players in innovative new ways.
Roger Wall head of hockey at Bradfield College, said:
“Evolution really is a fantastic surface and is undoubtedly progressing the skill levels of our players. We are really impressed by the quality, in particular its all-weather capabilities. It is an equally good surface when soaking wet or bone dry. Designed specifically with the needs of the hockey player in mind, the pitch has provided Bradfield with a hockey facility to be proud of.”
AMB Sports, one of TigerTurf’s premier partners installed the pitch to their usual high standards and with total commitment to the project.
