A school play and sports area, which was constructed in 2003 using a TigerTurf surface, is proving to be a big success. The synthetic surface was an ideal choice for the creation of a combined play and sports area at Orchard House School in Bedford Park, Chiswick, where a tree preservation order prevented the removal of trees. TigerTurf has provided a safe, all-weather surface, which was installed without damaging the trees while its drainage characteristics have enabled natural irrigation to continue.

The TigerTurf system has provided a 430m2 area, which includes an impact resistant surface around play equipment and a multi use sports area. The TigerTurf system was constructed from ProPlay impact matting overlaid with a 20mm pile carpet. The pile is made from soft fibres, which are both durable and kind to the sensitive skin of the pupils who have now been using the area for two and a half years. Occasional maintenance has ensured that the surface remains in tip-top condition and the colour retention of TigerTurf has maintained a grass-like view for surrounding residents of this world famous conservation area, the largest in London.
