TigerTurf, the UK's leading manufacturer of synthetic sports surfaces, have supplied their products for the recently completed training pitch at Brighton Rugby Club. The floodlit facility, which is the first full size synthetic Rugby pitch to be constructed in the UK, is the result of a collaboration between the club, the RFU, the Football Foundation, Brighton and Hove City Council and Dorothy Stringer Sports College. It will be used as a multi-sport community training facility across all age groups but the club will also use it for competitive rugby matches.

The TigerTurf Rugby system is constructed from long non-abrasive fibres which are carefully infilled with recycled rubber, which replicates soil and provides initial comfort. Underneath is a pad which is designed for firmness yet is capable of absorbing impact when a player falls under a heavy tackle.

At the opening of the new pitch, Sir Clive Woodward emphasised its importance in producing potential Rugby World Cup winners of the future and commended the various organisations whose combined effort had provided a valuable community facility. ‽Well done to those who have brought this together. It's a big investment but worth every single penny. You can't invest enough money in facilities”.

Brighton Rugby coach Gary Henderson, who is RFU national development officer was a prime mover in making the project become a reality. He said "The TigerTurf system is great to train and play on. If we can get more young people playing -- particularly from schools who don't have facilities -- it would be great. This is good for the whole of the city."

TigerTurf manufacture a wide range of innovative synthetic grass surfaces for sports, play and leisure applications.
