TigerTurf delivers first FIFA 2 Star pitch for UK

15/11/2007

Years of research and commitment have resulted this year in the creation of TigerTurf’s first UK FIFA 2 Star soccer synthetic pitch – Soccer Real.  It not only receives the highest level of official approval in the soccer market but also provides a new generation of pitch solving many of the issues associated with early generation synthetics.

The purpose of Soccer Real is to bring international standard football pitches to recreational players in the education market, the pitch being premiered at the University of Glasgow this year.

TigerTurf recognizes the importance for not only young talented players to have access to world-class facilities for training and competitions but the need for quality and performance required at a professional tier.  Soccer Real delivers both elements creating a surface that is practical at all standards of play.

Soccer Real complies with the highest international standards meeting all performance criteria on ball roll, abrasion and resilience.

One of the key elements in the success of this pitch was the yarn. The monofilament fibres and oval profile of the yarn produces a field that performs like a freshly watered, high quality natural turf.

Grant Reilly, Marketing and Business Development Manager for University of Glasgow, said
“The addition of the new pitch has lifted our facilities up to and international standard. The natural look and feel of the surface coupled with the consistent performance and durability have drawn premier teams such as Celtic and Rangers to use the facilities and this is growing our reputation in the country as a University with excellent resources.”

No longer is artificial turf being seen as an option only when natural turf is unable to grow or maintenance is too costly and time consuming. Soccer Real synthetic turf competes with natural turf on its own merits.

TigerTurf are the only FIFA licensee manufacturers in the UK, and Soccer Real compliments Tiger’s other FIFA approved pitches in Australia and New Zealand.
