TigerTurf launches first of its kind hockey pitch at Imperial College, London
25/10/2007TigerTurf is pleased to announce the recent launch of its pioneering new WETT Dressed hockey pitch surface at Imperial College London’s Sports Ground at Harlington.
Harlington is the larger of Imperial’s two sports grounds and boasts high class rugby, soccer and cricket facilities. The TigerTurf WETT Dressed hockey pitch, installed by McArdle, is the first of its kind anywhere in the UK.
As part of the WETT series (Water Efficient TigerTurf), the WETT Dressed surface has been developed as a suitable funding option for schools, colleges and community sports clubs. The tightly curled fibres create a surface on which players can practice close control over the ball and have complete command over the speed and direction of passes, without the need to water the field. The extra strength in the fibres ensures maximum surface recovery every time and the surface is offered with a 10-year guarantee.
The highlight of the Harlington launch at the beginning of October was the training session led by the Great Britain and England hockey star, Jennie Bimson. Jennie has recently joined TigerTurf as a consultant to assist in the development of products that meet the needs of the sport and its players in innovative new ways.
Neil Mosley, Head of Sport Imperial, said:
“This pioneering new TigerTurf surface is a welcome addition to our sports facilities. Designed specifically with the needs of the hockey player in mind, the pitch has provided Harlington with a hockey facility to be proud of.”
