According to a report on the BBC, artificial turf is being given very serious consideration for use in the 2010 World Cup and this is testament to just how much the technology has improved with regard to Synthetic turf in the last few years alone. Speaking to the BBC, the President of FIFA, Sepp Blatter, stated, “We have envisaged, though it's not yet a final decision, that the 2010 World Cup could be played on artificial turf. I think it's now time in this region to think about artificial turf.” The versatility of Synthetic turf and the fact that it can be used all round in all weather conditions is one of the key reasons that it is being considered for use in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
