TigerTurf has officially debuted at the Boston Lobsters’ season opener today at its home court -- Ferncroft Country Club!
The advanced technology sports surface was recently installed by 360 Sports Systems, LLC, at the world-renowned tennis facility in time for today’s season opener between the Lobsters and the Kansas City Explorers.
“Ferncroft is an extremely high profile venue and one that faces heavy use and demanding weather conditions,” said Ted Renda, managing partner and director of sales for 360 Sports Systems, a new TigerTurf authorized representative. “TigerTurf was carefully selected by the Club because it has proven it can meet these needs and the level of professionalism Ferncroft demands.”
He said the new surface, known for its superior performance, aesthetics and durability, was installed around Ferncroft’s tennis courts and high profile seating areas, which are used by players, celebrities and other spectators.
TigerTurf Americas vice president of marketing and sales Charles Fleishman said the company is proud of how many tennis facilities at all levels around the world have adopted TigerTurf systems to meet varying facility needs. “Whether on court, in viewing areas or high traffic zones, TigerTurf is the name in tennis. As home court to the Boston Lobsters, a part of World TeamTennis, Ferncroft Country Club hosted Australian Open Champion Serena Williams in 2009, when Martina Navratilova headed up the Lobsters.
In 2008, again led by Navratilova, the Boston Lobsters made the World TeamTennis playoffs with seven matches played at Ferncroft, including one that hosted Wimbledon Champion Venus Williams.
