ProGrass, TigerTurf Stand Behind Product Quality And Customer Satisfaction for Synthetic Turf at Golden Gate and Palmetto Ridge

09/17/2010

The Golden Gate High School Titans and the Palmetto Ridge High School Bears of Naples, Fla., will be challenging their opponents this football season on new high quality synthetic turf by ProGrass LLC.

The Titans played on the new field for the first time Thursday night, winning 56-0 over the Gateway Charter Griffins. The Bears will play on their new field for the first time for their Homecoming game against Estero High School on Sept. 24. Both teams have been playing temporarily at other athletic fields in Collier County due to defects that ProGrass recognized earlier this year while they were in the process of installing new turf at the athletic fields at both high schools.

“We recognized that the backing on the turf was inferior once it was exposed to extreme heat and humidity during the installation process in Florida,” explained Bob Thomas, vice president of sales and marketing for ProGrass, based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. “We immediately contacted TigerTurf to let them know that we found the product quality to be unacceptable and that we wanted to replace the turf on the fields immediately. TigerTurf agreed and expedited the new turf and we contacted the schools at once to inform them of the situation. We knew that addressing this issue would cause some delays, but we felt that the safety of the student athletes was paramount. On top of that, we wanted to stand behind our commitment to delivering quality products.”

In addition to the costs associated with the new turf and installation services, both schools will be reimbursed for all appropriate and applicable expenses incurred.

“All of us at ProGrass are thankful to the Golden Gate and Palmetto Ridge staff for working so well with us to address this issue quickly and effectively.  I am very pleased with the response and ethical conduct by TigerTurf, which demonstrates both in word and action how much they are willing to stand behind customer satisfaction and product quality,” said Thomas.

ProGrass installed GameTurf-S, a 36-ounce monofilament product with a high micron yarn, which enables the turf to withstand a high level contact sport such as football. This product also has real grass-like softness and feel for a more natural-looking playing surface. The Palmetto Ridge athletic field features alternating panels of light and dark green turf. Covered by an eight-year warranty, ProGrass expects the turf to last even longer with normal wear-and-tear and proper maintenance.

“Although we sincerely regret the temporary inconvenience that this has caused, our quick replacement of the turf at the Golden Gate and Palmetto Ridge athletic fields without any question clearly shows that ProGrass and TigerTurf have our clients’ needs and best interests in mind, first and foremost,” commented Chuck Fleishman, chief sales officer for TigerTurf.
