TigerTurf Synthetic Field System "Exceeds Expectations" at Concord University

A new roar is being heard throughout North and Latin America as global synthetic turf manufacturer TigerTurf makes its way into the continents' playing fields -- including West Virginia's Concord University!
Concord's new TigerTurf system, installed in summer, 2006, serves as the school's home football field, in addition to hosting other school sports and intramurals.
Greg Quick, athletic director and head football coach for Concord University, located in Athens, said grass had become too big a challenge to maintain, given the level of use and mountaintop location of the field.
He noted that Concord, upon deciding to replace the worn natural turf with a synthetic product, opted to work with Ohio-based Sports Construction Group (SCG) to complete the project. "We were interested in working with Sports Construction Group because of the credibility, the reputation they have in the industry.
"Their previous field expertise was critical to our choice," he added. SCG was responsible for excavation, subbase development and installation of the new synthetic turf system at Concord.
Through SCG the university was introduced to TigerTurf, long-term synthetic turf manufacturer headquartered in New Zealand and a newcomer to the Americas markets.
The result? "The players love it - it's the best surface in our conference for use, and it rivals any others in the state. It exceeds my expectations," stated Quick.
SCG, a sport field specialty contractor with 45+ years of construction experience, began working with TigerTurf early last year. "We're impressed with the manufacturer's products," said Jim Savoca, executive vice president and long-time turf veteran.
"The quality is there, the company is able to get the product in our hands when we need it, and they offer just about any type of system at any level -- or they can make it!" he added.
TigerTurf differs from other turf companies because it focuses only on manufacturing, working through contractors like SCG to get its products into facilities worldwide.
The company has been manufacturing synthetic turf for more than 25 years, with systems for nearly every sport on grass: football, soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, baseball, tennis, rugby -- even lawn bowling. TigerTurf develops and manufactures custom, FIH, FIFA, IRB & ITF approved and high quality multi-use systems at all levels.
According to Charles Fleishman, TigerTurf director, the company's success has been driven by its focus on research and development and its ability to deliver its high tech "recipes" through an intellectual "pipeline" to local manufacturing facilities throughout the world.
"We harvest the latest technology from wherever it's developed - Italy, India, Australia, you name it - and it's shared throughout our company, every market," said Fleishman.
"We're then able to deliver our systems reasonably and in a timely fashion through our quality of quality manufacturing resources, some with ISO 9000 Certification," he added. ISO 9000 Certification is a stringent level of quality that is awarded to a small number of manufacturing facilities for their excellent workmanship.
In the United States, that TigerTurf quality will soon be tested live on more fields, including New Canaan High School in New Canaan, Conn.!
