Big Season Ahead

18/11/2008

Although the hockey season has wound to an end and summer sports are in full swing, hockey is just starting up for TigerTurf NZ.

Needing dry, warm weather to install a hockey turf, the installation period is confined between October and April.  We currently have 6 turfs to be installed during this period with several other interested clients.  The huge interest in hockey which has been assisted by the Olympics has seen numbers growing in the sport and the need for more world class facilities.

Kristin College are in for a treat once their brand new WETT surface is laid. This is TigerTurf’s top playing surface and can currently only be found in NZ at Northland and North harbour. The feedback on this surface is fantastic with players saying how much they love the playing characteristics of this surface.

Following the Kristin installation TigerTurf will be installing Buller/Westport's TigerDRY system. This will be the first synthetic surface for the area and this will help strengthen and increase numbers in the area.

Our third surface is in Rotorua where they will be getting a 2nd TT37 waterbased surface. Two world class surfaces will elevate the chances of Rotorua receiving top local tournaments and events as well as International matches. The strong backing of the local council and the hockey community has helped bring this great development to the fore.

Our 4th and 5th surfaces are for Timaru. A huge venture is seeing their old sand turf replaced with a new WETT Dressed surface, the first full surface of its type in NZ, and a completely new WETT surface on the other side of the stadium making for yet another dual turf association in NZ and again raising their chances of top tournaments and International fixtures.

Staying in the lower South Island is yet another forward thinking Association, Otago.  They are also upgrading their existing sand turf into our top of the line WETT.  Another huge boose for this Association and as the centre for the Southern NHL sides it gives increased opportunity for hosting NHL finals.

With other turf possibilities it is a big summer for TigerTurf. We take huge pride in each of the surfaces we lay and are proud to be part of these projects.
