New Zealand has experienced a number of export “firsts” over the past few months providing a positive boost to the start of 2010; our first Rugby field in Singapore, our first Hockey pitch in East Malaysia and our first major installation in India.
Greenridge Secondary School, one of the pioneer secondary schools in Panjang recently completed a major campus redevelopment. The $15 million upgrade was initiated and funded by the Singapore Government and included a new TigerTurf ER 60 combined Rugby and Soccer Field. The contract for the field installation was awarded to our Singapore agent, with the installation being completed by New Zealand installers with the help of local labour. Conditions were not always ideal with the installation team having to contend with monsoon conditions, 100% humidity and temperatures of up to 35o Celsius!
Sarawak in East Malaysia is the largest of Malaysia’s 13 states. It is home to Batang Rajang, the country’s longest river, and Mulu, the world’s most extensive cave system and now TigerTurf’s first WETT Hockey Field for the region. Commissioned by the East Malaysian Hockey Association to be used as its primary Hockey facility, TigerTurf worked with local company to uplift the old surface and relay the new WETT over an insitu pad. Malaysia is a keen hockey nation with East Malaysia having produced a disproportionate number of Hockey players for the Malaysian team.
In conjunction with a local civil contractor, TTNZ’s India agent in India has been awarded a contract to install a TT37 Hockey Pitch at Guru Nanak Dev University in Amristar which is located on the Pakistan and Indian Border. Construction has started and the TigerTurf is being manufactured early February for installation the first week in March.
