Summer Top 5

TigerTurf

Can TigerTurf improve my skills and performance?
You bet it can. We’re all about performance and fun and we try to ensure that this intent is demonstrated in the wide variety of surfacing systems we provide. For many codes our turfs are designed to react like the very best natural surfaces, reproducing how a football bounces and rolls, the bowling ball’s speed and direction, the spin on the cricket ball, the bounce and speed of the tennis ball or the success of the footballer’s kick.

And because you know the surface is safe and consistently even underfoot, you can focus on skills development and enjoying the game you love.

Is TigerTurf economical and eco-friendly?
Another yes! TigerTurf means big savings for your club or school. Conventional grounds need mowing, rolling, re-sowing, spraying and a lot of surface watering. It can be expensive!

In particular, Water Efficient TigerTurf (WETT) is the top surface used by the majority of Hockey Associations.  The WETT surface can be used by everyone from juniors to elite athletes, and regardless of the weather (wet or dry) no one’s quality of play needs suffer.

When compared to conventional systems, WETT hockey surfaces need less water, provide longer life spans, have reduced replacement costs particularly using preformed pads that, time and time again, demonstrate the value of reusing the pad instead of relaying a new pad when the surface is replaced. Or it may be multisport in schools where TigerTurf systems allow approved use for a number of sports in the one surface option, reducing funds required to service a wide range of sports. WOW, it just gets better!

Will players’ injuries be reduced?
You’ll literally be playing on “a carpet of grass.” Synthetic grass manufacture uses the same machines (adapted for our special fibres) as conventional carpet tufting. In TigerTurf’s WETT surface our unique yarn’s ‘waxy’ properties mean very little additional surface water application is needed, making it an ideal playing surface.

The fibre’s ‘spring’ makes it safe to fall on, yet not so soft that it’s tiring to play on. You’ll be able to twist and turn at speed with much less risk of injury and the ball will not deviate unexpectedly. You’ll be supported time and time again in providing outstanding performances.

Will a TigerTurf playing SURFACE LAST longer?
Simply, yes. There are over 500 million “tufts” in a standard TigerTurf WETT pitch. Each tuft contains specially curled monofilament fibres that provide the perfect platform for players of all abilities to improve their skills. Our turf conforms to International Hockey Federation standards and continues to “play” well after extensive wear tests. Independent tests show that TigerTurf WETT will not fail in extreme temperatures and under the most intense UV conditions (and New Zealand has the most intense UV light in the world), meaning a longer life expectancy for your playing field.

Is an artificial lawn what you need?
Only if you want more leisure time, a pristine yard and a surface your kids can play on all year. Sure, you might miss the smell of new-mown grass but you’ll soon become a TigerTurf convert – saying goodbye to mowing, watering, weeding, re-seeding and unhealthy spraying. And TigerTurf’s new Indian Summer Turf looks even more realistic. (See story back cover.)

Just think, no more mud wallow in winter, “dead” areas in the shade or bare patches in summer. And no more guilty conscience when you’re using your weekends for what you really want to do – just perfect lawn every day of the year.
