TigerTurf to Sponsor 2008 Remuera Classic Tournament
13/03/2008The popular Remuera Classic Tennis and Squash tournaments are set to begin on the 22nd February 2008 at the Remuera Rackets Club in Auckland. TigerTurf will once again be sponsoring court 5 for the third consecutive year.
Remuera Rackets General Manager, Steve Hall, says the annual tournament is made possible from the contributions of their sponsors.
“For the past 6 years, we have been able to hold our traditional Remuera Classic tournaments for both junior and senior member with the generous help from all our sponsors. We are fortunate enough to be the only club able to provide a level second to that of the ASB and Heineken Open, where we are able to reward top New Zealand players with prize money.”
TigerTurf have been a sponsor of court five during the tournament for the past 3 years. “It’s great to have TigerTurf on board as they were responsible for re-laying six of our tennis courts in 2006,’ says Hall. “The contemporary ‘blue’ playing surface has been a real hit with our members – it not only plays well, it looks fantastic!”
The blue coloured TigerTurf Elite All Weather surface is considered easy on the joints and is less affected by adverse weather conditions than other surfaces. In addition, studies by the US Open have shown that blue is the best colour contrast with a yellow ball for maximum visibility.
TigerTurf Technical Manager Don Crockett said the Elite surface is a top of the range product suitable for high level tennis due to the design of the denser and stronger weave than standard surfaces.
“TigerTurf Elite is a highly durable, fast paced tennis court suitable for the top clubs of New Zealand,” said Mr Crockett. “We have had a lot of positive feedback from high level players.”
The week long tournament is expected to host over 300 players competing in either junior or senior level matches.
Remuera Rackets have extensive facilities including 13 tennis courts, 6 squash courts and a purpose built fitness centre that is home to over 1500 members.
